Ailsa O’Connor, the county organizer, writes:
I’d like to thank all those involved in this year’s Ride & Stride. Over the years as county organiser, I’ve come to see the CHEQS churches as a shining example of how it should be done!
You have people like Sheila O’Donnell organising and encouraging everyone; you have a strong team of lovely welcomers; you lay on some of the best refreshments – and this year I gather you’ve had some outstanding participants!
Ella Shaftoe & her mum Helen cycled 95 km and visited thirtytwo churches – an impressive feat for anyone, let alone a thirteen-year old. And I hear that Ella’s raised over £500 which makes her a strong contender for the best under-16 fundraiser. It will be a while before the full results are in but this gets Gloucestershire off to a great start.
There’s also been some lovely feedback for the Eastleach team of welcomers in particular. “Without doubt the Eastleach churches had the best refreshments and meet-and-greet smiley faces of the whole lot. On behalf of the cyclists may I express our appreciation to your teams and just simply say “thank you very much.” I’d echo that. On behalf of GHCT, may I say a sincere thank-you to everyone in the CHEQS churches for all you do to make Ride & Stride a success.
