CHEQS GARDENING CLUB – February News

The CHEQS Gardening Club does not meet during the winter months.

However, a date for the calendar is the first meeting of the New Year on Tuesday 8 March, 7.30 pm at Southrop Village Hall.

We will be welcoming Timothy Walker, a distinguished lecturer and formerly at Oxford Botanic garden. His talk is titled “A Blaze of Glory” on how we can plan for colour in garden through the autumn to the first frosts.

New members are very welcome and can just turn up at the meeting. Annual subscription is £6 single and £10 joint. We are fortunate that our members enjoy a discount at the Burford Garden centre for purchases with a root!

Guests are welcome at lectures and visits for a fee of £3 (in addition to any admission charges). As a Club we can arrange visits to gardens that are not normally open to the public.

The programme for 2016 is an exciting one.

Our first visit takes place on the afternoon of Tuesday 12 April when we will meet at 2.00 pm at The Old Rectory, Wantage. Admission including refreshments is £7. This is a spring garden perched high on the Berkshire Downs.

The Plant Sale & Supper is on May 10th at 6.00 pm.

Later in the year the visits include Daylesford House in June.

The Old Vicarage at Bledington in July and a double visit in September to Bush House Garden Wiggington and South Newington House Garden.
