The popular Candlelit Carol service returns to Bouthrop Church (St. Michael & Martin in Eastleach Martin) at 6.00 pm on Saturday 16th and will be followed as usual by drinks and snacks in the Arkells’ barn.
Morning Prayer on Christmas Eve will be in St Andrew’s at 11.00 am and will be a little shorter than usual with a three-minute Thought for the Day instead of the usual longer sermon. And on Christmas Day the now traditional service of Morning Prayer will be in St Andrew’s at 11.00 am led by John Exelby.
Southrop’s ‘Story of Christmas’ with readings and carols is in St. Peter’s at 6.00 pm on Sunday 10th followed by drinks and mince pies in the Village hall to which everyone is welcome. Everyone is also invited to Southrop School’s carol service at 1.00 pm on Friday 15th again in St. Peter’s. Christmas Eve at 4.00 pm sees the Crib Service for children from our villages and we hope that lots of shepherds and shepherdesses, wise men and women and more than three wise people will join the celebration – plus Marys and Josephs of course. The birth of Christ will be celebrated later that day with a service of Holy Communion at 11.30 pm led by Ron Lloyd.
