Neighbouring Gloucestershire pubs at war over who does best burger – and they’ll battle it out once and for all
Published
On one of the most important days of the year – National Burger Day – Two Gloucestershire pub managers will go head to head in the battle to end all battles.
Stephen Pitt of The Bull Hotel and Gerald Gallagher of the Five Alls in Filkins near Lechalde will battle it out to determine who offers the best burger.
While discussing their autumn menus, the two men began to talk about the classic beef burger.
Both felt their chef could construct the better burger and so decided to put this to the test in a competition to discover who really does offer the ‘best beefy snack.’
Stephen Pitt explained: “We offer the Bull Burger, crispy onion ring, Korean caramelized onion, pulled pork, cheddar cheese, smoked mayo and fresh, crisp salad.”
While Gerald is equally confident and said: “A burger is a classic and should be treated so, we will be keeping it simple but using the region’s best ingredients. A great blue cheese, crispy bacon, chive mayo and a secret ingredient burger sauce.”
The competition will take place on Thursday, August 22, National Burger Day where both will present to a select judging panel of locals and staff from both Cotswold venues to find out once and for all who the champion really is.
