POLICE ALERT

We’re asking residents across the county to be alert to the danger of telephone banking frauds after an elderly woman was recently defrauded of £13,000 when criminals called her and told her that her bank account had been the subject of fraudulent activity. Claiming to be calling from the police the criminals duped the woman into giving details of her account and transferring funds to theirs.

Please be alert and warn friends and family of this scam. And stress the following:

Your bank and the police will never ask for your PIN

If you receive one of these calls end it immediately

If you think you or someone you know has been targeted, report this to

Action Fraud

If you have handed over any details to the fraudster, call your bank

and cancel your cards immediately.

If you want to call your bank, then do it from another telephone.
