Reminder To Dog Owners – Walking In Fields With Livestock

Police have received a number of reports of sheep being attacked by dogs over the Christmas period.

We would like to remind dog owners to keep their dogs on a lead when in fields with livestock, especially sheep.

Lambing season is now a lot longer from late September through to early May called block lambing.

Most sheep will be with lamb and if they are attacked or suffer from shock they can loose their lambs and die.

We know most dog owners are responsible owners so this is just a friendly reminder. Please also pick up after your dog, even in the countryside, as this can also cause sheep to abort their lambs.

Many thanks
