It’s that time of year again, when our thoughts turn to balmy summer evening picnics by the river!! A good description of last year’s Big Swing Band Picnic, which was a resounding success – on one of the most beautiful evenings we’ve enjoyed over the years! It returns this year with an evening on the banks of the River Coln at the Mill House in Coln St Aldwyns (by courtesy of Earl St Aldwyn).
The music will once again be provided by the Glosjazz Swing Band, which will play old favourites made famous by great bands such as the Glen Miller Orchestra and the Count Basie Band. The gates will open at 5.30 p.m. for pre-concert picnics, hopefully in glorious sunshine, and the music will start at 6.30 p.m.
This year proceeds from the event will once again be donated to Friends of Fairford and Lechlade Communities – so make sure you come along and support your local hospital service – and don’t forget to bring a group of friends with you to make it a really great evening!!
Free parking will be available adjacent to the site and entry, payable at the gate, will be £10 for adults and £5 for children under 14.
So, come along, bring your own picnic and drink, and enjoy a great evening in aid of an important local charity!!
