Tearfund is a well-established Christian charity which
has three broads aims: to help people around the world
to escape poverty, to provide relief when disasters hit,
and to encourage changes to laws and individual
lifestyles to help improve people’s quality of life.
There will be an opportunity to support Tearfund, and at
the same time test your brain power and have fun as a family or a small group of
socially-distanced friends (depending on any new rules!). Thanks to the wonders of
video-conferencing, people can join together locally, whilst being part of a national
and international initiative. Donations to Tearfund can be made through a JustGiving
account which will be set up for donations from the CHEQS area. These will then be
added to the national Big Quiz Night total.
Last month, Kate Hicks Beach, Kevin and Jane Lynch,

Gloucestershire Historic Churches Trust. It was a
glorious day for the trip, and they cycled for over 23
miles around the benefice, visiting 13 churches in the
process. Last year, taking a different route, they made
a county-topping £2,870 for GHCT!

Think it is very sad as a community Eastleach was unable, unlike surrounding villages, to preserve this piece of historic street furniture.
Please be on the look out for a a black Mondeo estate car that has been seen at the farm yard of Eastleach Downs Organic Farm this morning at 7am. Reported that two young lads were in the vehicle.
Friends and neighbours, have told us fondly, that in days gone by , donkeys, horses and cows, have all been resident in "The Donkey Paddock" located between the Clock Tower and he bank at the bottom of the Victoria Inn, Eastleach,
The Campbell is a British breed of domestic duck. It was developed at Uley, in Gloucestershire, England, at the turn of the 20th century; being introduced to the public in 1898 and the Khaki variety in 1901.
The Silver Appleyard duck bred by the famous Reginald Appleyard is famous not only for its egg laying ability but also for its beauty. But until 1980 it did not have a miniature equivalent. Well known waterfowl breeder, Tom Bartlett changed all that by developing this breed in 1980 and it weights one third of the original breed. The miniature is not to be confused with the Silver Bantam which was developed by Reginald Appleyard. The two breeds have been standardised separately. The Silver Appleyard Miniature was taken up with some enthusiasm by breeders and exhibitors for its sheer beauty and it shines on an exhibition bench. It's also popular abroad.
Visitors are welcome to the village of Eastleach, but please can you respect the villagers and the environment and be careful where you park your car.
I started Cotswold Yoga and Wellbeing courses in August 2016, after moving to the Cotswolds to escape the busy Oxford life. I initially tailored courses to health and wellbeing, massage, change and healing, and then branched out into yoga a few years later. I began to learn about yoga whilst at university, learning Ashtanga from books and using Ayurveda herbs for cooking and wellbeing. Through looking after my body and my mind, I found the solace and comfort I needed to see me through my first degree course. I never thought some 20 years later this way of life would become my main source of income and inspiration!

Ride+Stride is a nationwide sponsored bike or horse ride, drive or walk between churches, exploring and enjoying the surroundings. It takes place every year on the second Saturday in September and is supported by The National Churches Trust. In our area it is run by the Gloucestershire Historic Churches Trust (GHCT). Last year, Ride+Stride nationally raised over £1.2 million to help places of Christian worship of all denominations with repairs and improvements to their buildings and contents, as well as to their surrounding churchyards. This year more than ever, historic churches need your support!
