Eastleach our home in the Cotswolds countryside

DIY SOS is coming back to Gloucestershire and an appeal has been made for people to help

Nick Knowles and his DIY SOS team will soon be back in Gloucestershire to help another family.

The star of the BBC One series, which revamps people’s homes to help them lead an easier life, has worked on projects in the county before.

Among the people who have been helped out are disabled athlete Scott Jones from Cheltenham, seriously ill Antonia Payne-Cheney from Eckington, near Tewkesbury and paralysed dad Ben Wernham from Avening, near Stroud

Now the team is getting ready to return to the county.

A flyer circulating in the Cheltenham area reveals filming is soon due to take place in the town.

Headed ‘DIY SOS NEEDS YOU!’, it says a big build will take place in Charlton Kings.

The flyer says a trades day will take place on January 23 ahead of the building work being done from February 6 to 15. The reveal date is set to be February 16.

An appeal is made in the notice for volunteers to help a local family, whose members it says suffer from “long-term genetic disorders, affecting their mobility and lives”.

The flyer adds: “We need tradespeople and suppliers, who wish to join us, by donating skills and materials.

“We offer an experience of a lifetime, delicious hot meals and the joy of volunteering, so please come join Nick, Billy, Mark, Jules and Chris and help turn a family’s life around.”

Anyone able to help is asked to email diysoscharltonkings@bbc.co.uk as soon as possible with their trade, availability and contact details.
